Daily Spread Betting and Financial Market Round-up

The equity markets had a positive day on Tuesday, with the major stock market indices on both sides of the Atlantic recording gains.

In New York, the Dow Jones Industrial Average delivered a gain of 0.87% (up 117.54 points) to finish the day at 13660.94. The Nasdaq Composite index finished the day at 2825.18, gaining 30 points. The S&P outperformed both the Dow and the Nasdaq composite, moving higher by 1.2% (18.1 points) to close at 1520.27.

In the UK, a pullback late in the session saw the Footsie give back some of the early gains to finish slightly higher at 6474.9, gaining 13.5 points for the day. The techMARK index was flat for the day and the FTSE 250 was marginally higher, adding 0.18%.
