Daily Spread Betting and Financial Market Round-upSpread betting: financial markets round-up The equity markets had another down day on Monday, with the Dow falling by 51.7 points to close the session at 13543.4. That represented a loss of 0.38% for the day. The S&P500 lost 7.48 points to finish at 1502.17 for the day. The Nasdaq composite index dropped 15.20 points to close the afternoon at 2795.18. So overall, the US equity markets continue to favour spread betters taking short positions in the indices. In the London market, the Footsie managed a late rally in the afternoon to avert a triple digit loss. Nevertheless, the index still dropped 69.20 spread betting points to close at 6461.4. At its low point, the FTSE 100 traded at 6420.4. The bulk of the losses on the London Stock Exchange were sustained in the supermarket, mining and banking sectors where short sellers had another field day. Elsewhere, the FTSE 250 index lost 1.12% and the techMARK index was down 0.38%.
