Spread betting opportunities : Financial market update


After a bit of hesitation, US equity indices resumed the ongoing two-day rally and managed to recover from early opening losses to record small gains for Thursday.

On a day of relatively light volume, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 22.28 spreadbetting points to finish at 13311.73 for the session. The Nasdaq Composite index finished 5.22 points higher at 2668. The Standard and Poor’s 500 index was barely changed at 1469.72, adding 0.7 points.

In London, the FTSE 100 index was up 42.9 points for the day, closing at 6349.1. The blue chip index got a boost from strong gains in mining stocks on the LSE.
