Spread betting opportunities : Financial market update
The rally continued on Wall Street unabaited on Monday as equity markets looked to further cuts in interest rates by the Federal Reserve Bank (FED). This time around, the run-up was led by the large cap stocks of the Dow and S&P 500 index.
The Standard and Poor’s 500 index added 11.30 to close at 1515.96. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up by 101.45 spreadbettign points, to finish at 13727.03 for the day. The Nasdaq Composite index lagged the other major indices, with a small gain of 0.47%, adding 12.79 points to end at 2718.95.
The strong start on Wall Street helped the Footsie to recover from a weak start. Despite the initial volatility, by the close, the FTSE 100 was quoted at 6565.4, with a gain of 10.5 points. Elsewhere on the London Stock Exchange, the FTSE 250 index finished at 10,660.60 up 0.29% and the techMARK finished marginally higher at 1,532.87, up 0.03%.
