Spread betting opportunities : Financial market update


Wall Street equities continued their strong move on Thursday with big gains across the board. Technology stocks continue to outpace the rest of the market, with the Nasdaq composite index gaining 1.6%, a move of 42.67 points to close at 2709.03. It was closely followed by the S&P500 which closed 22.33 points (1.5%) higher at 1507.34. The Dow Jones moved 174.93 spreadbetting points higher (1.3%), closing at 13619.89

The London market lost its early fizzle which was initially inspired by news of a 25 basis point cut in interest rates by the Bank of England. Having reached about 100 points higher in early-afternoon trading, the FTSe 100 index closed 8.2 points lower at 6485.6.
